The Omnivore festival was launched just twenty years ago by a journalist, Luc Dubanchet, in order to bring out of the shadows the young chefs who, at the time, were beginning to emancipate themselves from a quasi-feudal system with its dogmas of all kinds.

The resounding success of the formula ended up arousing the interest of the mastodon Sirha, organizer of events such as the Bocuse d'or, which crunched Omnivore in 2020. Luc Dubanchet is now "Director of the Sirha Food division within the GL Events group". Always enthusiastic, the ex-journalist has, however, traded his thirst for precision for the mysterious air of managers, who declare that the turnover of his branch amounts to "several tens of millions of euros" and the cost of Omnivore Nord to "several hundred thousand euros", while other regional variations are envisaged in Nantes and Marseille.
