The bathing season will officially begin with the departure of high school students tomorrow for vacation, but at Bat Yam Beach, the ills that summer brings to the beaches and pools have already begun. In a dispute over chairs on the beach in Bat Yam, a 40-year-old suspect was arrested for assaulting a beach worker after he called the police for youths who threw chairs and umbrellas.

As mentioned, the boys who came to the beach threw chairs and umbrellas and then moved away from the area. A beach worker in charge of the equipment called police to the beach and when they arrived, a 40-year-old man close to the boys attacked the beach worker in front of the officers with a knife.
The violent incident took place last Friday afternoon, when the report of the attack was received. Bat Yam police officers arrived at the beach and while questioning the employee at the beach, the suspect ran towards him and pulled out a knife while threatening and cursing: "Next to the police, you're in a f**k problem", police officers at the scene overpowered him with a taser and detained him for interrogation.
The suspect, a 40-year-old resident of Tel Aviv, was taken for interrogation, at the end of which he was arrested and transferred to the court for an extension of his detention, where the court extended his detention by four days. The investigation is ongoing.
