The finance minister attacked the president after the latter contradicted the coalition's claims • Only two months ago, Smotrich criticized him and claimed that he was "not objective"

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich lashed out at Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Tuesday morning.

"The president published his outline unilaterally in the past, he is a leftist and unfortunately he is unable to be an honest mediator," he told Kol Barama radio. This comes after the president claimed last night that, contrary to the coalition's claims, no agreement had been reached in the negotiations at the president's residence on reducing the cause of reasonableness and the Attorney Generals Law.

Smotrich also criticized Herzog yesterday, and in an interview with Channel 14, he said, "The president is telling no truth in his statements today (yesterday). There were things that had already been agreed, but of course people backtracked."

Last April, Smotrich also attacked the president. In an interview with the Kippa website, he said that "in the previous round [of the reform talks] he was not objective, failed to be brave and a leader, and at the last minute left an agreed outline and broke to the left."

Herzog, who addressed the crisis for the first time yesterday, said: "In the talks held under my auspices, no binding drafts were sent by the president's residence to either side, and of course full agreements were not reached on any issue. I recommend not compromising the fairness and integrity of the process."
