A lull in the storm: National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir agreed today (Thursday) at his meeting with the heads of the Druze community in Julis that the work in the Golan Heights to install the turbines will continue until the eve of Eid al-Adha, stop on the holiday, and continue immediately thereafter. The work led to large protests by the Druze community in light of the damage to their territories.

Ben-Gvir: "Governance is important to all of us, the project will continue and the State of Israel will not surrender to those who threw Molotov cocktails and stones, and the sheikh also opposes it unequivocally. The sheikh explained to me about the sanctity of the holiday, which will take place next week, so I informed him that the work will not take place during the holiday, and I congratulate the company that showed sensitivity to the holiday and agreed to the outline."

Tonight, the leaders of the Druze community gathered and called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to stop the work in order to find a solution. Today, before his meeting with the heads of the community, Ben-Gvir demanded that the work continue. This was after there were reports that the police requested that they be arrested due to tensions with the Druze community. The police denied that they had asked for a halt to the work, saying: "Contrary to erroneous reports, the Israel Police did not order a halt to the work on the construction of turbines in the Golan Heights, such a decision belongs solely to the political echelon."
