Many Israelis have already closed their upcoming summer vacation, with quite a few of them scheduled to spend it in Sharm el-Sheikh, a destination to which direct flights from Israel opened only a year ago.
Now, sources in the Foreign Ministry confirm to Israel Hayom that next week a discussion will be held during which they will examine the cessation of direct flights to the Egyptian city located in the Sinai Peninsula.

The reasons for considering the cessation of direct flights to Sharm are mainly security-related, and if they are indeed canceled, many Israelis will have to find an alternative to the flights they have already paid for. It is important to clarify that even if it is decided to stop direct flights to the popular destination, it is not clear whether this will happen immediately or only in a few months.
In recent months, Sharm el-Sheikh has become a very popular destination among Israeli tourists, who find the city a cheap and luxurious summer canopy less than an hour's flight from Ben Gurion Airport.
