Against the background of security tensions in Samaria: Settlers reported today (Friday) another arrest in the area of the community of Fadu'el of a 19-year-old Israeli youth.

Earlier, the Shin Bet announced that, together with the Israeli police, an investigation had been opened into disturbances by settlers in Palestinian villages in recent days. According to the statement, after arrest warrants were issued from the court, police officers in the district acted tonight to arrest three suspects involved in the incidents. It was also learned that the three were interrogated and brought to court on Friday morning for a hearing, and their detention was extended until Monday.

Honenu said that the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court had earlier rejected the request of the SWAT and Shin Bet to extend the suspects' detention by ten days, and extended their detention until Monday only.

After the hearing, Attorney Nati Rom said: "Unfortunately, we were once again informed of the outrageous arrest of three suspects by the Shin Bet and the Judea and Samaria Police Department, some of whom have no criminal record at all, with a draconian order prohibiting meetings with an attorney. This is a very serious violation of human rights, it should be noted that for hours they did not allow us to give advice even though there was no warrant.

"We are very sorry that the Shin Bet and the Judea and Samaria Command are using such draconian tools against Jews and settlers, instead of eradicating terrorism. We also see the bad things in other sectors, such as the use of illegal weapons, and we don't use either the north or the prohibitions on meetings."

During the morning, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir went up to the settlement of Evyatar together with the head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan, and Nahala movement chairman Daniella Weiss. "My position is known," Ben-Gvir said. "I give you full and complete backing, but I want much more from the community here, there needs to be a full community here, not only here, but in all the hills around us. The Land of Israel must be settled, and at the same time as the land is settled, we must embark on a military operation, take down buildings, eliminate terrorists, not one or two, but tens and hundreds, and, if necessary, thousands."
