The ambassador's criticism – and the IDF Spokesperson's response to the foreign media: Lt. Col. Richard Hecht on Saturday called the settlers who rioted north of Ramallah "criminals" and called what happened "acts of terrorism."
Earlier, settlers vandalized property in the village of um Safa, north of Ramallah, including an ambulance that was sick at the time.

Germany's ambassador to Israel, Stefan Seibert, responded to the riots on Twitter: "I am shocked by settler violence. The recent terrorist attacks cannot be an excuse for this. According to international law, it is the responsibility of Israel and its security forces to prevent this from happening in all the occupied territories."

Lt. Col. Hecht responded with a tweet of his own: "Mr. Ambassador, these are shameful acts on Shabbat. That's not who we are. These terrorist acts were carried out by criminals. We do what we can (to prevent it). One of the rioters was handed over to the police."
