Thirteen animals in particularly poor health were recently rescued from an illegal farm established near the community of Nordia in the Sharon region.
The rescue began as a collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture, the police, the Israel Land Authority and the Lev Hasharon Regional Council, whose teams arrived at the site to evacuate it in accordance with a court order – and found an illegal farm where the animals were staying. Then, they summoned inspectors from the Central Enforcement and Investigations Unit at the Ministry of Agriculture.
When they arrived, they found the animals in poor condition, thin and hungry and without any medical treatment. The animals were cared for in the field by the inspectors, who watered them and fed them, while deciding that they should be evacuated for treatment and rehabilitation.

Four extremely thin horses were found on the illegal farm, a dog that gave birth to five puppies in the 48 hours before crews arrived, another extremely thin dog and two male dogs. The dogs were found to be in poor health, and some were even kept in particularly poor conditions. All the dogs were evacuated to the kennel, and the horses were transferred to a protected facility where they were cared for by members of the Animal Welfare Division of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The owners of the farm were summoned for interrogation, at the end of which a house was found for the animals found on the farm.
