The soldier serving in the Samaria Brigade, who was arrested yesterday (Saturday) near the community of Ateret, was transferred to the Shin Bet for interrogation at night and an exceptional order was issued against him preventing him from meeting with an attorney. At first, the soldier was interrogated at the Judea and Samaria Medical Center and he was allowed to speak with attorney Nati Rom, but a few hours after his arrest, the soldier was transferred to the Shin Bet and the exceptional order was issued against him.

An urgent appeal was filed today against the exceptional order in the Jerusalem District Court, where an urgent hearing on the matter will apparently take place during the day. In addition, the soldier will be brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for a hearing.

In the urgent appeal, Adv. Adi Kedar of Honenu wrote: "The appellant's arrest was made in or near the community of Ateret, following the Shabbat events in the area. In summary, it should be noted that since the attack, the Palestinians have continued to act against the residents of the area by blocking roads, throwing stones and more, in the face of the incompetence of the police and army in dealing with the matter and abandoning their personal safety. Yesterday, following similar activity by Arabs, violent friction erupted between the sides.

"If this is indeed the basis for arresting the appellant and preventing the encounter, then it is a slippery and dangerous slope. What are things supposed to be about? If the appellant's arrest is indeed a continuation of such friction, then in this context there is no reason to prevent the encounter, since this is an offense that has already been committed a long time ago and without future fear, and therefore the operation of the provisions of the law in this context is intended only for the convenience of the investigating unit to carry out an unhindered investigation."

In addition to the soldier, the Shin Bet interrogates four other young men who were allegedly involved in events in Palestinian villages after the serious attack on Ali. The four were forbidden to meet with a lawyer and their status is not yet known.
