The discussion on the issue last week was postponed following the murderous attack on Ali. The critical hearing, which was supposed to take place last week but was postponed because of the attack on my husband, has begun

The Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, headed by MK Simcha Rotman, will open discussions on Sunday morning on reducing the use of the Supreme Court and disqualifying legislative measures and government decisions on the reasonableness clause, after the discussion on the issue last week was postponed following the murderous attack on Ali.

According to the proposed wording of section 15 of the Basic Law on Judiciary: "Notwithstanding the provisions of this Basic Law, a person who has jurisdiction by law, including the Supreme Court, shall not hear or issue an order against the government, the prime minister, a minister of ministers or any other elected official as determined by law, regarding the reasonableness of their decision."

At night, committee chairman Rotman wrote on his Facebook account: "Tomorrow we will open discussions in the Constitution Committee on the bill to abolish the grounds of reasonableness, the legislation of which will be completed in the current conference. The bill to abolish the cause of reasonableness was written according to principles set forth by Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg in an article several years ago.

"Eliminating the reasonableness grounds was also part of the president's outline, part of Gideon Sa'ar's proposal, and although it was not signed in the document by the parties, it was part of the issues that were part of the consensus in the talks on the reform."

Economy Minister Nir Barkat said on Army Radio this morning: "Aharon Barak himself also said that reducing the cause of reasonableness is a proper and correct move, especially after what the judges said about Case 4,000. The madness we have entered is because the State Prosecutor's Office has no restraints, we want a stronger democracy."
