The Appointments Committee of the Civil Service Commission unanimously approved today (Sunday) the appointment of Moshe Ben-Zaken, Regev's former chief of staff, to serve as Director General of the Ministry of Transport.

Recall that when the government was formed, Regev tried to appoint Zaken and was refused by the Appointments Committee, and the move caused a storm. The appointments committee then determined that Ben Zaken did not have the necessary experience and did not meet the threshold conditions.

Regev threatened to approve his appointment despite the committee's objections, but it was finally agreed that he would be appointed deputy director-general, which is a political appointment and after six months he would be raised again to the appointments committee.

Now, after six months have passed, Ben Zaken has again submitted to the Commission for approval and, as stated, has been unanimously approved to serve as Director General of the Ministry of Transport.
