The second day of deliberations in the Constitution Committee to reduce the grounds of reasonableness began with a storm after a representative of the student protest clarified that the continuation of the legislation goes hand in hand with the road closures • After the MKs' ranting, the student said: "It's a disgrace of this place the way you behave."

Controversy in the Law, Constitution and Justice Committee: In a discussion held today (Monday) in the Constitution Committee as part of its meeting to discuss reducing the grounds of reasonableness, a representative of the student protest said that if the legal legislation returns to the agenda, road closures in Ayalon will also return. After saying this, MK Moshe Saada (Likud) demanded his details. The protesters, for their part, claimed that this was a threat of a criminal investigation.

Omer Winoker, a representative of the student protest, told the committee today: "The return of road closures in Ayalon is back together with the legal legislation." This aroused quite a bit of criticism among the MKs and other participants in the committee's discussions. Winok, for his part, responded to the storm by telling MKs: "It's a disgrace of this place the way you behave."

The student protest said in response: "For months we have been saying that the dictatorship is here. Now in the Constitution Committee, a Knesset member is threatening a student with a criminal investigation just because he came to voice his opinion during the debate. Turkey is here. You see, the government will not be satisfied with passing dictatorial laws, now it wants to threaten with investigation demonstrators and even citizens who come to a constitutional committee. We back Omar and demand that the political system condemn the attempt to intimidate concerned citizens. They won't scare us. We will continue to make our voices heard."

Committee Chairman MK Simcha Rotman also reacted angrily, saying, "There is no justification and no legitimacy to say that if you legislate, we will block roads. It is forbidden to block roads in the State of Israel." Rothman even turned to the student and said, "You will not threaten Knesset members during a debate." Addressing the police and the State Prosecutor's Office, he said: "The reality in which an open call to block roads and violate the law and civil disobedience is answered calmly, as if it were walking in a park, is illegitimate. Or you have a uniform policy on this – and if you change it, please introduce it. If you have decided that sedition offenses are no longer being filed, please declare it."
