Miki Zohar's reform of Israeli literature: The Minister of Culture and Sport is interested in appointing Benny Ziffer, Gadi Taub and Neve Dromi to the Board of Trustees that selects the judges of the Ministry of Culture's literary prizes.

Zohar addressed a letter to Dr. Haim Perlock, Chairman of the Council for Culture and Art, and Yoav Ariel, Chairman of the Council's Literature Section, discussing "consultation for the purpose of appointing a Board of Trustees" that selects the winners of the Ministry of Culture's literary prizes. The three appointments are particularly well-known and identified with the right.

Ziffer, who is a member of the Council's literature section, is the editor of the culture and literature supplement of Haaretz newspaper and is considered close to the Netanyahus. Dr. Gadi Taub is a historian, author and publicist; Neve Dromi is a journalist who recently published a book about the IDF, and writes articles for Yedioth Ahronoth.

Zohar's letter stated, "According to the General Awards Regulations, it is required to consult with you prior to the appointment of board members of trustees for the prize in question. In accordance with the directive of the Legal Bureau regarding the appointment of committees of trustees, I turn to you for consultation regarding the appointment of three representatives to the Board of Trustees of the Literary Prizes. The candidates are Benny Ziffer, Neve Dromi and Dr. Gadi Taub."

Each year, the firm awards dozens of literary prizes in a variety of categories – prose, poetry, non-fiction, editing, translation and more.

Zohar also wrote: "I would appreciate your opinion regarding candidates or suggesting other suitable candidates along with their resumes. I would like to draw attention to the issue of expression going to the representation of both sexes and the duty to avoid conflicts of interest."

A few months ago, Zohar appointed three members to the Film Council, including Gil Samsonov, Maritha Kipnis and Meni Asayag, who in the meantime announced his resignation from the Council.
