Many people want to feel comfortable during their flight abroad, so they tend to wear comfortable clothes that will lighten their body during the hours when they are huddled on the plane alongside others – but it turns out that if you want to upgrade a class from the flight crew, you should dress a little more impressively.
Sling Beding, a former flight attendant, told the Express that if passengers want to become candidates to upgrade their flight from Economy Class to Business Class or First Class, then there are some items of clothing you should avoid wearing at all costs: "You should dress more elegant if you want an upgrade."

That's because flight attendants want to upgrade passengers who won't stand out and disturb business class passengers who bought expensive tickets due to their "poor clothing," she said. She added: "We're looking for passengers who don't stand out and dress respectfully."
Beding also said that the dress code that will increase your chances of upgrading is wearing blazers and jeans. In the case of dresses, women are advised to wear dresses that are long and not very conspicuous, and of course that convey quality: "Avoid wearing open sandals, flip-flops or shoes, even though they will make it easier for you to pass the security check – and never wear tights or sweatpants."
