Netanyahu's Chinese balloon: The announcement of the visit is a clear signal to Washington | Israel Hayom

Highlights: The U.S. is trying to keep India as a regional power, writes Aaron David Miller. Miller: "If the US loses India, it will find itself at a global disadvantage" He says that if the US doesn't want to lose India, then it should hold a meeting with the Israeli PM. Miller says that the meeting should take place before the end of the year, not during the holiday season, as previously thought. The meeting should be held before then, Miller says.

The prime minister continues to receive the cold shoulder from the White House, and Jerusalem decided to flex his muscles for Biden • The way to preserve the status of the United States as a regional power is through the long-awaited invitation to the Oval Office • Commentary

Over the weekend, Narendra Modi, India's prime minister, visited the US capital. He was received in Washington as an official and high-ranking guest. This is despite the fact that connoisseurs in Biden's party are very disgusted with the leader of the world's largest democracy. According to progressive eyeballs, Modi is a Democrat who suppresses human rights – a criticism that sounds familiar to Israeli ears.

Because of the allegations from the left, Biden delayed the meeting with the right-wing leader for months. What broke him were interests. Modi, who was elected to office in a democratic election, is not cooperating with Western sanctions on Russia and is tightening ties with China, the country from which he recently took the title of the world's most populous.

With all due respect to enlightened moral preaching, if the U.S., which is already wrestling with China and boycotting Russia, loses India, it will find itself at a global disadvantage. And that's something Biden can't afford. So, just as he flipped against Saudi Arabia, he began courting India.

"Hold me so I don't go to the Chinese"

It can be assumed that the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem is closely monitoring this global game and drawing conclusions. For the past seven months, Biden has been compartmentalizing Netanyahu and bolstering his domestic political rivals. It's time to flex some muscle or release a test balloon – a Chinese balloon in this case, which could fit in well with Netanyahu's actions in the Knesset yesterday. This is probably the background to Netanyahu's "Hold me before I move to the Chinese," or to put it more simply: If Biden wants to boast to his citizens about obtaining Israeli approval to provide the Ukrainians with Iron Dome, and if he doesn't want another symbolic blow to America's regional status, he should summon the Israeli prime minister to a meeting. This is the exercise that Jerusalem has been trying for the past two days.

At the end of September, Netanyahu will leave as usual for the UN General Assembly. It is hard to believe that Netanyahu will visit Beijing before that – it is no coincidence that his office refrains from giving a date for the visit in question to China. On the other hand, if Netanyahu will still be persona non grata in the White House next fall, his meeting with Xi Jinping will not be delayed much.

Therefore, it seems that Netanyahu's visit will take place after the holidays, and at least not in the coming month. Every year in early autumn, a joint technology conference is held between the two countries. It is most likely that Netanyahu will embark on it and it will take place at the fixed time. Whether the Americans get the hint, it's up to them.
