An indictment will be filed on Thursday against Evyatar Asraf, a 30-year-old resident of Beit Shean, who shot and moderately wounded a man who agreed to host him in his apartment. The police, who were initially unable to find the bullet casing, discovered during the investigation that the shooting was done with a gun the size of a writing pen, capable of performing "fatal damage like a regular gun."

The police investigation revealed that a few weeks ago, the landlord was asked to help and sleep Asraf with him, after he was in debt. Asraf, according to the police, has a previous criminal record for drug, violent and property offenses. After staying with the host for several days, an argument arose between Asraf and the landlord.

According to Superintendent Adv. Kojan Tahoujo, a VIP officer at the Beit She'an police station, the suspect was seen leaving the apartment, her brother returned later, and shot his host, who was sitting on the couch, from a short distance. The bullet entered the victim's leg and he was taken to hospital in fair condition. The hospital decided not to remove the bullet from the apartment owner's body, due to its sensitive location and fear that removing it would endanger the injured man.

During the investigation of the scene, police investigators did not find the casing of the gun bullet, leaving a question as to which weapon the suspect fired. During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that he fired a pen-like pistol, the diameter of which is 0.22 mm. This is a pistol that is loaded with one bullet at a time, and after the shooting the cartridge remains inside the gun and is not ejected from it. The police said that a bullet wound from this gun is as lethal as a regular pistol and is very accurate.

"This is a gun that does not attract attention, does not arouse suspicion and is easy to hide," Superintendent Tahoujo said, adding that the suspect slipped the gun in a gravel bag outside the building. Later in the investigation, drugs were also found in the suspect's apartment. In the indictment that will be filed against Asraf in the Nazareth District Court, he is expected to be charged with shooting and possession of a gun, possession of drugs not for personal consumption and two threats against police officers.
