The IDF is still investigating how the disaster occurred during the department's exercise at the Paratroopers Brigade's training base in the south on Tuesday night, in which Sergeant Or Israelov was killed. Yesterday, the commander of the ground forces and the commander of the Central Command instructed the establishment of a team of experts headed by the commander of the 12th Brigade, Col. Ivri Elbaz. The purpose of establishing the team, according to the IDF, is "to examine the circumstances of the incident and to recommend centers for investigation, lateral examination of the incident and prevention of similar incidents in the future."

Israelov z"l, 19, from Bat Yam, was buried yesterday in the military cemetery in Holon. As his coffin was being brought in, his mother burst into tears: "Where is the IDF? You said you'd keep it for me."

Israelov was supposed to receive the red beret next week. His family painfully told of the anticipation of seeing him at the moving ceremony of the graduation ceremony, which will no longer materialize.

According to a preliminary investigation of the incident, the rifle force, which was under cover, fired at the flag (marking the boundaries of the drill's sector) from the flanking force while it was moving. Israelov was hit from a distance of 250 meters and killed.
