Edgars RINKEVICS.- There are too many questions that cannot yet be answered to make an analysis. However, I would venture to tell a few truths. First, it is clear that Vladimir Putin is weakened. But it is not yet known to what extent and what will be the consequences of this weakening on the Russian political scene, with the elections in March 2024 in sight. Internal readjustments can be expected. How will Putin proceed to regain control? Will it intensify repression and become even more authoritarian? Provoke a new escalation in Ukraine? Secondly, Wagner's installation in Belarus will have consequences for the security of the region, for the Baltic countries, for Poland and of course for Ukraine.
