Grenoble: major anti-drug raid in a city, the alleged leader arrested

Highlights: Cash, cannabis, counterfeit cigarettes, seventy police officers conducted a major operation on Monday at dawn in the Hoche district. Six arrests, including that of the alleged leader of the network, took place during this operation. From January to May 2023, the department's police and gendarmerie forces conducted 302 operations to dismantle deal points. A total of 208 traffickers were implicated (+43.4%), and 154.6 kg of cannabis, 6.1 kg of heroin, 5.8 kg of cocaine and 2 kg of other drugs were seized. 1668 fixed criminal fines were issued over the same period.

A major anti-drug raid was conducted Monday by the Grenoble prosecutor's office in the Hoche district. Six arrests, including that of the alleged leader of the network, took place during this operation, which mobilized seventy police officers after several months of work in the field. During this seizure, € 407,000 of cash was found in boxes and apartments, as well as € 269,000 of cigarettes - or 2500 cartridges -, 13 kg of weed, 1 kg of cannabis resin and 1.6 kg of cocaine.

Laurent Prévost, the prefect of Isère "congratulated the services of the National Police for their action to fight against drugs in the Hoche district in Grenoble which is part of a permanent work against traffickers and consumers". From January to May 2023, the department's police and gendarmerie forces conducted 302 operations to dismantle deal points, an increase of 68.7% compared to the same period in 2022. A total of 208 traffickers were implicated (+43.4%), and 154.6 kg of cannabis, 6.1 kg of heroin, 5.8 kg of cocaine and 2 kg of other drugs were seized.

In addition, the prefecture indicates that this fight against trafficking has been accompanied by sanctions against consumers. 1668 fixed criminal fines were issued over the same period, an increase of 31.1% compared to 2022.
