The director general of the national police, Frédéric Veaux, will remain in office until the end of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024, announced Wednesday 28 June the Council of Ministers.
Frédéric Veaux was supposed to leave his position in theory this summer to retire. But the preparation of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris being a major issue in terms of security for the government, the executive has decided to keep senior officials in charge of strategic positions.
The Director General of the National Police will thus remain in place until "September 29, 2024", as decided by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.
