Mayor Ariel Eli Shaviro announced that he would not run for another term. Ten years ago, when he took office, Shabiru declared that he held the opinion that the position of head of the PA should be limited to only two terms, a ten-year term.
Eli Shaviro, the retiring head of Ariel: "I must say, when I declared that I would not serve more than two terms, many of my friends and many residents told me that this is what everyone says, but "time takes its course" and fall in love with the job, get addicted and go on and on. To be frank, it's true. I fell in love and almost got addicted... But I am a man of values and principles, and as I promised, I will finish two full terms and retire, I will not run for another term, even though I am convinced that I would gain the trust of the residents again.
I thank the CEOs of the municipality and municipal companies, the managers and the employees – who, working together, have achieved amazing achievements, some of which I have detailed. But the big thanks go to the residents who put their trust in me, allowed me to realize my dreams and lead the city as I promised. I may be finishing my job, but Ariel is an inseparable part of me and I believe that I will continue to work for her and her residents."
