A confrontation took place today (Thursday) between the families of Hadar Goldin and Oren Shaul and the security of the state ceremony marking nine years since Operation Protective Edge in which they fell. This was part of a demonstration held by the families together with about 100 other demonstrators, including from the Goldin Patrol, who came to protest outside the ceremony compound with bricks, and after they were not allowed to enter and protest at a relevant point in front of the ministers.
"You want me to burn myself like Itzik Saidian who burned himself so you can wake up to deal with the heroic shell-shocked? Then I will burn myself," Leah Goldin, Hadar Goldin's mother, addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he left the compound. "I mean it, I'm not afraid." Hadas's sister, Ayelet Goldin, called out to him: "Look at a bereaved sister in the eye, you've been prime minister for ten years."

Earlier, the protesters played a recording of the prime minister saying he was committed to the return of the boys. They protested the government's alleged lack of efforts to return the bodies of Goldin and Shaul in Gaza, as well as captured civilians Hisham al-Sayed and Avra Mengistu.
