)The American Robert J. Sternberg, born 73 years ago in New Jersey, will mark the annals of psychology with his famous triarchic theory of love, whose pillars are intimacy, passion and commitment. Yet he also devoted much time to the study of human intelligence, creativity and its application to the world of education. He nourishes the conviction that teaching must not be limited to the transmission of knowledge and must above all focus on the integral development of intelligence.
Former president of the American Psychological Association (APA), this extrovert shared his science with students and professors at Camilo José Cela University in Madrid, where he gave an interview to El País. He directed the Center for the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies and Expertise at Yale University and is now a senior lecturer at Cornell University.
