In view of the many unanswered questions in the realisation of the "Forum Humor" project in Bernried, those responsible are currently less in the mood to laugh. Nevertheless, the 3rd Humor Festival will take place in the community – with greats from the cabaret and caricaturist scene as well as many activities.
Bernried – Laughter was allowed even before the official opening of the festival on Saturday, July 1 (17 p.m.). The paintings by the East Frisian Otto Walkes have been on display in the Buchheim Museum since 17 June. "Otto. The Exhibition" is a cross-section of his life's work. "It mainly includes drawings and paintings, garnished with childhood documents, props from films and live shows as well as audio and video documents of his legendary performances," says the organizers, the association "Forum Humor und komische Kunst", the municipality, the Buchheim Museum and the LVA Clinic Höhenried.
David Berlinghof's Lachwald also has its place on the clinic grounds, it was located at the lake in the previous two years and now remains a permanent installation on the clinic grounds. The organizers also have high hopes for the "Wunderwelt Bernried", a project of the Canadian artists' collective "Daily tous les jours": Three swings will be installed on the bridge of the Buchheim Museum. Whoever swings there creates very individual music. The swings will also remain, and further projects between the village and the museum are planned as part of the "Wonder World".
45 cartoons on the humor course
Already well-known and very popular with the visitors of the first two festivals is the humor course. This time, the sea route from the Buchheim Museum to the landing stage is lined with not 30, but 45 cartoons by artists from Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland. The course continues in the glass house at the town hall; six other artists will present themselves there.
The heart of the 3rd Humor Festival will be the days from 20 to 22 July, with music and cabaret with performances by Monika Drasch, Luise Kinseher and Christine Eixenberger, all in the Sommerkeller. "Can I send laughter?" asks the author Georg Cadeggianini on Wednesday 26 July; he helps children and adults to design and send postcards.
Memories of a wedding 100 years ago
On Thursday, 100 September, Gulbransson biographer Gerd Holzheimer will commemorate a wedding 7 years ago: the painter and draughtsman Olaf Gulbransson and Dagny Björnson celebrated their bachelor party in 1923 at the "Drei Rosen" inn. Today, as – presumably – then, the Bernried brass band plays in the Salettl.
Reinhard Wittmann, chairman of the association "Forum Humor und Komische Kunst", is most looking forward to Christine Eixenberger's appearance, in which the local fire brigade will also be involved. "The laughing guests in the village and the humor course" are the things that Bernried's mayor Georg Malterer is most looking forward to at the humor festival.
