The most important thing for the 81-year-old and her husband, who is two years older, has been a respectful relationship at eye level with a lot of humor and love since the moment they first met. A wedding is a special day for every couple. For Rudolf and Felizitas Scheuermann, it was even more unusual than for others: they married two other couples at the same time. Now they are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

Hohenpeißenberg - Felizitas Scheuermann was a tender 16 years old when she met her future husband for the first time. Actually, she was supposed to pick up her mother at a party in the carpenter's workshop where Rudolf Scheuermann also worked. "I saw them and spoke to them. Later, I accompanied her home," he says with a mischievous grin. The mother, on the other hand, had to make her way home alone.

Five years after getting to know each other, they were invited to the wedding in Hechendorf. "The impetus for us all to marry together was given by my younger brother," recalls the Hohenpeißenberger. "We sat together in front of it for a few evenings and discussed," adds his wife, then the celebration was over. Rudolf Scheuermann walked down the aisle together with his two brothers, and Felizitas Scheuermann's sister and a friend were also involved in the sextet at the wedding. It is not surprising that it became cramped in the church.

"That was a murderous spectacle"

In addition to the relatives, there were mountaineering comrades of Rudolf Scheuermann, who even stood on guard with ice axes, as well as friends from the Red Cross and the Trachtenverein. "That was a murderous spectacle," the jubilarian likes to think back to it. Rudolf and Felizitas Scheuermann then built a house in Hechendorf on their own. Two children came, and Rudolf Scheuermann changed from carpenter to general agency manager of an insurance company. His wife ran the household and was a busy and popular cleaning lady in the hospital, at school and finally 17 years with the Red Cross.

But at some point the decision came to leave the built nest. Instead of the semi-detached house, something single was needed. That's what the family found in Hohenpeißenberg in 1999. "We have never regretted the decision. Everyone is so nice here," says Felizitas Scheuermann, raving about the village and its inhabitants. Mayor Thomas Dorsch can only return this compliment and praises: "If there's something going on somewhere, the Scheuermanns are there."

The couple also has a tip for a successful marriage

And the Scheuermanns always supported each other's passion. Felizitas Scheuermann danced enthusiastically in the Trachtenverein, her husband played there because he didn't like dancing that much. The "crazy mountaineer", as the grandfather of four calls himself, was occasionally accompanied by his wife on his tours into the mountains. Even today, he regularly hikes up the Hohe Peißenberg. "Because once he doesn't have enough, he goes right back," Felizitas Scheuermann reveals and treats her lover to this pastime.

Because the most important thing for the 81-year-old and her husband, who is two years older, has been a respectful relationship at eye level with a lot of humor and love since the moment they first met. Her tip for the success of a marriage: "You just have to pull yourself together again and again." Ursula Gallmetzer
