Le Figaro Nantes
Supporters of the night train, some of whom were dressed in pyjamas, demonstrated Sunday in the train station of Nantes. Among them were members of a collective called "Yes to the night train", as well as members of several associations in favor of the preservation of the environment (Greenpeace, Alternatiba, Extinction Rebellion).
According to them, "the West is excluded from the revival of night trains" since the project of the Quimper-Nantes-Lyon-Geneva line "no longer appears in the government's projects" while an official report, dating from May 2021, pleaded for a revival of it. No night train has left Quimper station since 2010. They are also campaigning for the reopening of lines between Quimper-Nantes-Toulouse-Barcelona and Nantes-Nice-Ventimiglia.

A 'discouraging' rail network
Advocates of the night train argue that the current rail network is "discouraging" for passengers. They explain that transversal links between regions, which are "the longest journey times by day train", are often via a more or less complex connection in Paris.
They want local stakeholders to publicly support night trains by sending an open letter to the government. For their part, travelers are invited to sign an online petition. Already more than 11,000 people have done so in the space of three months.
