The urban violence affecting Rouen (Seine-Maritime) and other municipalities in the agglomeration since the middle of last week and the death of the young Nahel in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) have sometimes unexpected consequences on the daily lives of the inhabitants.

Those who were waiting for Monday, July 3 to use Lovélo Libre-service, a new device set up by the Rouen-Normandy Metropolis, will have to show a little patience. The deployment of the first wave of 260 self-service two-wheelers has been postponed, initially, to Monday, July 10.
The Lovélo app already downloadable
"In the current context, we were not going to add these bikes to the public space, at the risk of seeing them deteriorated before they were even used. And we will see at the end of the week how the situation evolves to make a new decision, "says Cyrille Moreau, the vice-president in charge of transport and mobility for the future who regrets that in these circumstances the continuity of public service with the old system called Cy'clic can not be ensured. "We had organized ourselves so that Cy'clic would only stop this Sunday before going directly with Lovélo on Monday. We hope that the transition will not last too long."
The forty or so stations composed of raspberry-colored arches are still empty. These facilities are more flexible than the old system because the electronics are embedded in the padlocks of each bike and are no longer located in the hanging terminals, which are more complex to install. On the other hand, the Lovélo Self-Service application, which will allow you to book and borrow cycles via your smartphone, is already available for download.
This delay in ignition should not have any consequence on the further development of this service which should be available at the beginning of the school year in the municipalities of Petit-Quevilly and Sotteville-lès-Rouen. "Before a deployment to the east of the agglomeration and Grand-Quevilly from 2024," says Cyrille Moreau.
