Idit Silman, Minister of Environmental Protection, today (Monday) launched Israel's preparedness conference for the next UN climate conference, COP28. The conference was led by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the opening of the conference, Minister Silman said, "We have been aware for many years that climate change poses a risk and we are already witnessing the harmful effects. She added: "We must already make an effort to find creative ways to prepare for the effects of climate change, including finding ways to relieve populations that are particularly vulnerable to the effects created by these changes. During the conference, member states, observer organizations and stakeholders from all sectors come together recognizing that despite all the difficulties and complexities, there is no chance of overcoming climate change without joint action and mutual assistance."

Silman also spoke about the 27th climate conference, held last year in Sharm el-Sheikh, saying: "For the first time, Israel established a national pavilion, in which it presented impressive examples of Israeli climate innovation, with an emphasis on practical and technological solutions, with the aim of strengthening regional climate resilience and promoting ties with countries in the region. We see the conference in Dubai as an opportunity to establish ties with our neighbors near and far, within the framework of bilateral projects as well as in existing regional forums and those that we are interested in promoting."
