Overlap in demonstrations
The position of commander of the Tel Aviv district was appointed by Commissioner Peretz Amar. Amir Cohen was appointed commander of the Southern District. In a conspicuous ceremony in his absence, Tel Aviv District Commander Ami Eshed, who was appointed head of the training division. Senior police and national security officials believe his conspicuous absence suggests his desire to retire from the police. Eshed has not yet clarified his steps, neither in his voice nor through his lawyers. About a month ago, Eshed sent a letter to the police commissioner in which he claimed, among other things, that if he was removed from his position as commander of the Tel Aviv district, it would be considered personal and political impeachment.
Either way, his replacement in Tel Aviv, Peretz Amar, attended the ceremony, and according to senior sources in the organization, the demonstrations in Kaplan this weekend will be an act of overlap.
