Tel Aviv District Commander Lt. Gen. Ami Eshed is expected to issue a statement to the media on Wednesday in which, apparently, he will announce his retirement from the police.

As you may recall, yesterday there was a ceremony for awarding ranks and division of positions in which he did not participate due to personal reasons and was transferred to the position of head of the training department

A few months ago, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai removed Eshed from his post.

A joint statement by the police and the Ministry of National Security said that on Shabtai's recommendation, Eshed would be transferred to the position of head of the police training division.

The Office of the Minister of National Security claimed that "this is a premeditated round of appointments and not an impeachment."

A day later, Attorney General Baharav Miara ordered a moratorium on his removal, since her inquiry into the matter raised concerns about the legality of the proceeding, including the considerations underlying the decision, the timing of the announcement and the background to it.
