About a month ago, late at night, the defendants, residents of Harbata and Eizariya in their 20s, arrived with another man in a Mazda car with fake license plates, despite the fact that they do not have a permit to enter Israeli territory, to the community of Shoresh, which belongs to the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council near Jerusalem. After searching the community for a motorcycle belonging to a local resident, the defendants loaded the motorcycle into the back of the vehicle and drove off with the intention of transporting it to Judea and Samaria.A neighbor who noticed what they were doing reported it to the owner of the motorcycle, who alerted the Border Police officers.

The officers pursued the fleeing vehicle and at some point, when there was no traffic in the opposite direction, the patrol car overtook the defendants' vehicle and began to slow down in order to cause the suspect vehicle to stop moderately, but then the vehicle began to drive recklessly. In the process, the vehicle overtook the police car while crossing a dividing line, driving in the opposite lane of traffic in a way that caused the oncoming vehicles to veer out of their lane while the fleeing vehicle tried to ramming the police car.

Border Police Forces,

While still fleeing, the vehicle drove on the shoulder in the opposite lane of traffic, and at the same time a vehicle was traveling with family members, parents and their three daughters, and another vehicle carrying a man who was alone as they made their way home. As part of the reckless driving of the vehicle containing the defendants, the vehicle drove at high speed against the direction of traffic in the lane of the Skoda vehicle, in which the family members tried with all their might to escape in order to avoid being hit, swerved into the opposite lane, but the defendants' vehicle struck the rear of his vehicle, causing his vehicle to turn and hit the patrol car head-on following the fleeing vehicle, and the vehicles involved sustained heavy damage.

After the arrest of the two men, they were taken for interrogation at the Mateh Yehuda Border Police station, and their detention was extended from time to time in court in order to exhaust the necessary investigative activities.

Mate Yehuda,

The Investigations and Intelligence Officer at the Mateh Yehuda Border Police Station, Superintendent Adv. Danit Greenstein, noted that: "This is a determined activity by the Border Police forces from Mateh Yehuda and the Judea and Samaria District police to increase the security and protection of the public's property and against property offenders involved in criminal activity. After this complex and professional investigation, we succeeded in formulating an evidentiary basis for the defendants' actions, which matured into the indictment recently filed against them by the State Prosecutor's Office. This is the place, first and foremost, to wish a speedy recovery to citizens and police officers injured as a result of the reckless driving of those defendants who tried to flee the law after stealing the citizen's vehicle. At the same time, we will continue to act fearlessly against these offenders, arresting them and bringing them to justice, for the benefit of the public who will depend on our police officers and fighters who protect them and their property."
