A court guard at the Hadera Magistrate's Court warned attorney Shira Kedar at the entrance on Sunday, claiming that he had noticed that her work diary had a sticker saying "Duty to Resist the Dictatorship" and that he could detain her because of this. He also informed her that this was "forbidden" and asked her not to enter the court with the diary anymore.

Kedar is a veteran attorney of the Public Defender's Office, who represents demonstrators in the pro bono "detainee system" in the field, in police stations and in the courts.

Kedar entered despite the strange warning and went straight to the guard security officer. The security officer heard the whole story, noted that "there is a general order not to bring in civilians with any demonstrative features" but admitted that "there are nuances" and that "in this matter of defending democracy, he instructed the security guards - don't mess with it." He apologized, said the security guard had made a mistake and promised to refine procedures.

"I feel very hurt by this. I've been a lawyer for almost 20 years and I've never had anything like this happen to me," said attorney Kedar, "The security guard today would fight and at another moment the incident would escalate, God forbid, and he would lay me down on the floor and arrest me."

"They never approached me like that, they didn't rummage through the file, they didn't peek into the diary, they didn't ask for explanations about this or that sticker, and they didn't make any demand to me about what I put in court," she said. We are in favor of democracy, we are in favor of strengthening the courts. It is clear that the security guard today unlawfully used the authority given to him, and the court administration would do well to sharpen the procedures for all its employees. This is a sensitive time and civil rights are at stake, and we must show great sensitivity to respect these rights at this particular time."

This is the second incident since the beginning of the protest in which Kedar is involved. At the end of February, she was fined NIS 5,000 by a judge in Hadera for demonstrating against the legal revolution instead of appearing before him in a case related to domestic violence. In a check in which she paid the fine, she wrote at the time, "It is good to fight and sacrifice for our country."

The court administration told Walla: "The incident described occurred due to a far-reaching interpretation by a security guard of the court guard to the directive that demonstrations cannot be held in the courts. The Court Watch corrective officer dealt with the incident immediately, spoke with the lawyer and apologized to her for the situation."
