A worker in his fifties was killed Wednesday in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne (Savoie) on a construction site of the future Lyon-Turin rail link, a judicial source said.
The facts occurred at the end of the morning on a railing site, said the Albertville prosecutor's office, confirming information from France Bleu Pays-de-Savoie and Dauphiné Libéré.
Manslaughter investigation
The prosecutor's office has opened an investigation for manslaughter in the context of work, "without prejudice to any accusation". This was entrusted jointly to the gendarmerie brigade of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and the Labour Inspectorate. The Lyon-Turin, a 57.5 km long tunnel crossing the Alps between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Susa, is due to be commissioned in 2032.
