The Beersheba District Court is expected today (Thursday) to render its verdict in the case of Dr. Giora Peri on suspicion of the aggravated murder of his late wife Esther Aharonovitch almost four years after the incident, at their home in Talmi Eliyahu in the Eshkol Regional Council. The shocking incident took place in the pastoral moshav in the Eshkol region in early November 4, since the doctor has been in custody.

According to the facts of the indictment, after a financial dispute between them, the deceased began taking legal action against the accused. While he was on a trip abroad days before the murder, Aharonovitch moved her boyfriend's belongings from their shared room to another room in the house and hid the gun that the defendant kept in his home. When Perry returned from abroad, the deceased announced that she would return the gun to him only when he left home.

On November 3, 2019, the defendant took the gun and fired five bullets at the deceased and fled in his car, leaving his girlfriend wallowing in her blood on the floor. The indictment was filed by Attorney Yoav Kishon of the Southern District Attorney's Office.

In June 2021, Perry stood at a court hearing and gave his version, "Sunday I go to work very tired. I told the clinic commander that I was going to sleep and closing the stall. I came home and went to sleep, my suitcases were packed, Esther wasn't home. I told her I want to leave, my luggage is packed. I put it at the door. Esti I'm leaving, I need the gun, give it to me," he said.

"My gun has been licensed for 10 years, I make many visits to communities near the fence at night. It's been with me for years, the gun in my closet in my bedroom, the key when I'm not in Israel. I ask Esti for the gun, I follow me to the bedroom, she takes out the gun and she waves it: 'How does it feel that I have the power now?', after two seconds a shot is ejected, I try to take the gun from her, it was like a nightmare movie, two more bullets are emitted. It's a situation I didn't want to be a part of, I wanted to give myself a bullet in the head. I got into the car toward the Mashav Sade junction, drank three boxes of pills, wanting to end my life. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, I woke up in Soroka."
