Hundreds accompanied Capt. Leader Peretz, an IDF officer killed last night when a container collapsed at the Tze'elim base in the south, to rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. Peretz, 21, served as a logistics officer in the 7th Armored Brigade. She lived in Or Yehuda, grew up in Ramat Gan and attended Blich High School.

Ramat Gan Mayor Carmel Shama Hacohen wrote on Facebook yesterday, "Leader grew up in the Ramat Chen neighborhood, in the Scouts tribe in Ramat Chen and graduated from Blich High School. The entire city shares in the sorrow of parents Merav and Assaf, brothers Roy and Ron and all the other members of the family, and will be at their disposal from now until eternity in everything possible. May her memory be blessed."

A preliminary investigation conducted by the IDF indicates that Peretz was standing next to the container, and a truck passing by hit the container, hitting the officer. Another soldier was lightly wounded in the incident. An IDF spokesperson said, "An IDF officer was killed in an accident while working at an IDF base in southern Israel. The military police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, and at the end of the investigation, the findings will be transferred to the Military Advocate General's Office for examination."
