At the request of the Religious Zionist rabbis, MK Simcha Rotman will change the bill for the election of city rabbis and reduce the power of Shas in the selection process. The updated bill will assist in the appointment of Sephardic rabbis who are members of Religious Zionism.
In recent weeks, the Constitution Committee has been promoting a bill aimed at regulating for the first time the method of appointing rabbis of cities and neighborhoods in Israel. Behind the scenes, in parallel with the committee's discussions, there were many discussions between the elders of the Religious Zionist rabbis and representatives of the party.

According to the updated version, the Council of the Chief Rabbinate will elect a number of representatives to the electoral body, unlike the original bill that requested that all council members take part.
