Zalman Alfron, 65, is in trouble again when he is arrested on suspicion of threatening a woman he met a few weeks ago. A court extended his detention by 4 days.
Yesterday (Thursday), the complainant came to the Holon station to complain that Alfron met her a few weeks ago, and according to her, she did not complain until now because she felt sorry for him, gave it a chance, but decided to complain about him due to threatening conversations. She said that when he met her on the street a few weeks ago, where he threatened her because of his possessiveness, he put a key to her throat and spat in her face.
Following the complaint, police officers came to his home in Givat Shmuel and arrested him. During his interrogation, he gave a version, among other things, he took issue with the conduct of the complainant and her new partner towards him, and in fact, according to him, this was part of a series of abuses by the complainant and her new partner against him.

This morning he was brought to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for an extension of his detention, where a police representative asked to extend his detention, noting that there was her testimony and there were recordings of a conversation in which he was heard threatening her, and these things were hurled at him during interrogation. On the other hand, the defense attorney who asked for Alfron's release said that this was a complaint about an old incident, when in fact the main part of the incident is not known when it occurred and could have occurred several years ago, and despite this, the complainant chose to file the complaint yesterday, it is not clear why. The defense attorney also said that she believes that this carries weight in terms of the danger that the police seek to attribute to her client, and that there is no evidence other than the complainant's statements.

In the end, Judge Yael Pradelsky extended Alfron's detention by four days, ruling that as far as this stage, which concerns the first extension of detention, is concerned, there are reasonable grounds for suspicion linking the suspect to the commission of the offense of threats and assault. "From the nature of the circumstances of the commission of the offense of threats attributed to the suspect and from the record of his previous convictions, I determine that the suspect is dangerous to the public," Judge Pradelsky wrote in her decision.
The Alfron family has been considered one of the most prominent crime families since the early 70s, when in 2008 the late Yaakov Alfron, who headed the family, was assassinated in an explosion on Namir Road in Tel Aviv, an assassination that to this day has not been solved. Since the murder, Zalman Alfron and his brother Nissim have kept a low profile, and in May of this year, brother Nissim passed away.
Another brother, Musa Alfron, who was one of the dominant brothers in the family and cut himself off from crime after an assassination attempt in which he lost both legs, in 1995, became a member of the Likud Central Committee and died at home in 2015 from complications of illness.
