The strengthening of the right in Germany: The Alternative for Germany party registers further strength in a public opinion poll published today by the weekly Bild am Sontag.
According to this poll, support for the party strengthens to 22% (compared with 20% a week ago), widening the gap between it and the ruling Social Democratic Party, which stands at 18%. According to the poll, Alternative for Germany continues to be the second-largest party in German voting intentions.
In first place, with 26%, is the Union of Conservatives, which consists of the Christian Democratic Party and the Christian Social Party. The gap between the Union of Conservatives and the Alternative for Germany has shrunk to only four percent. The leaders of Alternative argue that given that the Union of Conservatives consists of two parties, it is not inconceivable that Alternative has become the largest party in Germany.
Alternative for Germany, which won 10.3% of the vote in the last general election, has strengthened in recent months. Many believe that this is due to the German public's growing lack of trust in the center-left government and the leadership of the opposition conservatives. The party mainly attacks green economic policies and the German government's support for Ukraine, which have led to price increases, rising inflation and rising poverty.
