One of the Israeli tourist's favorite destinations is the island of Rhodes in Greece. Evidence of this can be found in the dozens of flights that take off every week from Israel to the popular island – and now, it seems that the dream vacation of many is turning into a nightmare.
A huge fire that broke out on the island a few days ago is spreading and causing many tourists to flee far from the danger areas. According to reports in the country, the fire has been spreading in recent hours and the fire forces in Rhodes currently have no control over the fire.

So far, according to the same reports, tens of thousands of tourists from all over the world have been evacuated, including many Israelis, who were evacuated as early as Saturday. Evictions intensified today, forcing many tourists to walk miles to reach safe areas.
Some of them told Israel Hayom: "We don't believe this is what we will become of our vacation. We run away from the fire, it's scary. There is a smell of fire in the air, the intense heat doesn't help it, and we don't know what will happen to us, everything around us is just burnt."

A fire has also raged on the outskirts of Athens in recent days, but at this stage it has hardly affected tourists. The fires broke out, among other things, due to the severe heat wave combined with strong winds. Israeli crews took off to the areas of the fire to try to help the Greek firefighters.
