The children of Shalev Korostishevsky, who was brutally murdered earlier this year, filed a lawsuit against the Israel Police for negligence that caused the murder of their father. According to them, the deceased father filed several complaints against the accused in the murder of Osher Agassi, and despite the danger and heavy criminal record of the murderer, he was not arrested on the same day and continued to pose a danger.

Last week, Israel Hayom magazine Shabbat published about Korostishevsky's horrific murder. According to the indictment, Agassi, a resident of Rishon LeZion, killed Etz Korostishevsky, but not before abusing his neighbor's apartment in a residential building in Petah Tikva for more than four hours. Agassi stabbed his neighbor no less than 100 times all over his body for four hours, abusing and teasing him. He then set fire to the victim and his apartment.

Korostishevsky's children filed a lawsuit in court by attorneys Meir Cohen Zeda and Michael Harel, in what they said was negligence on the part of the police in not addressing the complaints filed by the father against the murder accused, which ultimately triggered the murder. It all began in October when Agassi came to the deceased's apartment and demanded that he lend him money. The deceased refused, and in response, the murderer threatened the deceased that if he did not lend him money, he would kill him and set fire to his apartment, and in light of the murderer's threats, the deceased gave details that enabled the murderer to steal him for 35,<> shekels. A few days later, according to the prosecution, Korostishevsky filed a complaint against Agassi for threats of murder, extortion by threats, theft.

Despite his danger and heavy criminal record, according to the prosecutors, he was not arrested on the same day and continued to pose a danger to the deceased in particular and to the public in general. "The deceased's friends also called the police and filed complaints about the deceased's distress and fear of the murderer, but despite the fact that "the writing was on the wall," the Israel Police ignored the many calls and complaints to it. "What enabled the murderer to carry out the brutal murder with meticulous and lengthy planning," the lawsuit states, "despite submitting a large number of complaints to the police station / Hotline 100 demanding protection, assistance and handling of complaints against the murderer, who is dangerous and has a rich criminal record, the defendant was sued negligently and/or while turning a blind eye, did not act to protect the deceased while ignoring the complaints and dangerousness of the murderer, thus enabling the heinous murder of the deceased who left behind two orphans."

Attorneys Meir Cohen Zada and Michael Harel, who represent the orphans, said: "This is a shocking and despicable murder that an ear and heart cannot contain, this murder could have been prevented had the Israel Police not acted as required of it and arrested the murderer in advance, this is a convicted criminal murderer with a heavy criminal record relative to his young age. The Israel Police knew that it was a ticking time bomb but ignored the danger of the murderer, despite numerous complaints to the Israel Police both by the deceased and by his acquaintances. We regret that the police did not use the information they had before the murder and did not act as required, now it remains to take care of two minor orphans without a father."
