Yakir Asraf, a professional photographer and owner of the CLM tourism company that offers trips to volcanoes, arrived in Iceland in recent days to witness the rare phenomenon of a volcano eruption in the area.

In a conversation with Israel Hayom from the country, he recounts the extraordinary experience: "Less than two weeks ago, a volcanic eruption was observed in the southwestern region of Iceland. This is the third eruption in recent years, but the strongest in the last 800 years."

"Right now it's a controlled eruption, which allows people to get very close to lava, there are literally swarms of lava that you can get close to. It's a very rare and special sight, no one knows how long it will stay with us, there's a chance it will happen for a few days and there's a chance for a few months," he added.

"Right now there are also some dangers of coming here, like toxic gases, which cause people to come here with special masks, it also depends on the winds," he said. "In some situations, the authorities close the way to reach the mountain. To reach the mountain, you have to walk about 8 kilometers towards the mountain for about two hours, and then you get very close to the volcano. The great advantage of the place is that you can come here at any time of the day, since the night in Iceland starts at 23:30."
