Highlights: Adam Teva VeDin appealed to the Israel Land Authority to fence off the area immediately. In its appeal, the appeal mentioned that already in 1992, even before the factory was closed, a powerful explosion occurred in the area, killing two workers. ILA responded: "The presence of explosives and hazardous materials originating from IMI activity is a problem that requires root cause treatment on the part of the defense establishment" Despite the expectation that after the explosion the distortion will be repaired and a fence will be erected to prevent entry, a tour conducted a few days ago shows that nothing has changed.

The Adam Teva Vadin Association appealed to the Israel Land Authority to immediately carry out hermetic fencing around the entire area of the IMI Nof Yam area, where the large ammunition explosion took place about a month ago.

The purpose of the fencing is to prevent, as fully as possible, the entry of both people and various types of vehicles into the area where the factory was located, in order to prevent danger to life. According to the association, those responsible for fencing are the owners of the land, i.e. the Israel Land Authority.

As part of the appeal, the association notes that the latest explosion on the ground is not the first explosion that has occurred on the ground. Already in 1992, even before the factory was closed, a powerful explosion occurred in the area, killing two workers and injuring dozens of workers. Subsequently, the association notes that although the hazardous materials are still hidden in the ground, the area was transferred from the Ministry of Defense to the Israel Lands Authority.

Powerful explosion at a factory near Herzliya: a crater seven meters in diameter formed there,

The association's attorney notes that today "almost free access to the site is possible, and the fence that was around it has been demolished and does not constitute a significant barrier. This area is frequented by many residents and travelers, who can freely enter the abandoned buildings on the grounds, without knowing the danger. According to reports, on the day of the explosion, a party was even held a few hundred meters from where it took place.

More renewed passage and the dangerous area is not fenced off

Despite the expectation that after the explosion the distortion will be repaired and a fence will be erected to prevent entry, a tour conducted in the area a few days ago shows that nothing has changed, and that anyone interested, including children on vacation, as well as various types of vehicles, can enter the area without difficulty."

A problem that needs to be addressed by the Ministry of Defense

The Israel Land Authority responds to the allegations and notes that the ILA assisted the Herzliya Municipality in financing the security costs it placed at the site of the explosion and does not constitute an admission of the ILA's responsibility for the situation on the ground. The presence of explosives, buildings and hazardous materials originating from IMI activity in the area is a problem that requires root cause treatment on the part of those responsible in the security establishment. Beyond the knowledge and responsibility, needless to say, Netzer Hasharon has accepted all the obligations and rights of IMI and must deal with all the hazards as soon as possible.
