"The upheaval in the IDF is severe, disturbing and extremely worrisome," warned Heyman. "This is a real risk to security, not speculation and not a narrative. The decrease in motivation to volunteer is severe; If this is added to the enactment of the draft law, the IDF will experience the perfect storm. The crisis in the reserve army will be compounded by many young men and women whose motivation to enlist in meaningful service will decrease. This will be the beginning of the end."

IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy also addressed the recent events, saying that "in the midst of this upheaval, the IDF has a great responsibility to defend the State of Israel and its citizens. Times of disagreement and crisis demand to emphasize what is common and unifying – the task of defending the country is our deep commitment.
