Dahbia Benkired, the main suspect in the sordid murder of the young Lola in Paris, was transferred at the end of February from Fresnes prison (Val-de-Marne), where she was in pre-trial detention, to a unit for difficult patients (UMD) of a psychiatric hospital in Villejuif (Val-de-Marne), Le Figaro learned from a source close to the case confirming information from RMC.
This 25-year-old Algerian, in an irregular situation and subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF), was indicted in October 2022 for "murder and rape with acts of torture and barbarity on a minor under 15 years old".

According to our colleagues at RMC, Dahbia Benkired banged her head against the walls in detention, partially shaved her head and was sometimes aggressive towards prison guards. A problematic behavior that led to his hospitalization in psychiatry.
The issue of criminal liability
Dahbia Benkired's mental health is one of the main issues in the case. According to an initial psychiatric expertise, the suspect would not suffer from "any psychic or neuropsychic disorder that has abolished or alternated her discernment", which would make her accessible to a criminal sanction.
However, other psychiatric assessments will take place in the coming months. There are usually two, or even three, for the most complex cases. At the end of these expertises, the investigating judge in charge of the case will decide whether the Algerian woman should be held accountable to justice. Otherwise, she would remain interned in psychiatry for an indefinite period.
Despite her hospitalization, Dahbia Benkired was nevertheless questioned by the investigating judge on June 8, Le Figaro learned from a judicial source. Shortly after the incident, during her fourth hearing, the suspect admitted to the murder of Lola, a 12-year-old girl. "I didn't force her, she went up voluntarily, she was scared at the top and I forced her to go home (...) I typed it a little, I wasn't well actually. I did what I had to do (...) I abused a little, just to have my pleasure and point bar, "she would have said, according to remarks reported by Le Monde.
