In the Assembly, the government reshuffle has reshuffled some cards. Especially for members of the relative majority. On Wednesday, several internal votes of the Renaissance group were held at the same time. They were held electronically, remotely, the parliamentarians no longer being at the Palais Bourbon since the end of the extraordinary session, last week.

The most essential of these elections, for the presidency of the majority group, ended without great surprise with the large victory of the deputy of Paris Sylvain Maillard, against his colleague of Val-de-Marne, Frédéric Descrozaille. He succeeds Aurore Bergé, appointed Minister of Solidarity.

Another appointment for the least important: that of Charlotte Parmentier-Lecocq. The MP for the North, who has already held several important responsibilities on bills since her arrival at the Palais Bourbon in June 2017, was designated by the elected representatives of her camp to be the candidate of the Renaissance group, in September, during the election for the presidency of the prestigious Social Affairs Committee. A position so far held by Fadila Khattabi, appointed last week minister in charge of people with disabilities. And which should therefore return, unless there is a big surprise, to the Renaissance candidate, as had been the case in June 2022.

Allocation at the beginning of the school year

Finally, in the third election, the deputy of the Vosges David Valence was appointed by his fellow candidates to head the delegation to local authorities and decentralization. A position left vacant by the macronist Thomas Cazenave, appointed Minister of Public Accounts a few days ago. David Valence faced seven candidates and he won in the second round against the elected representative of Maine-et-Loire, Stella Dupont. As for the post of chairman of the Social Affairs Committee, this responsibility will be assigned at the beginning of the next school year and open to MPs from all other political parties at the Palais Bourbon.
