The Foreign Ministry issued a recommendation to Israeli travelers on Wednesday evening and a call not to go to Rhodes, Greece, due to the fires and severe weather that has hit the island in recent days. "Greece is in the midst of an abnormal weather system, including extreme temperatures reaching up to 45 degrees Celsius," the ministry said in a statement.
"Severe fires plague the entire island of Rhodes. Due to the current state of emergency, we recommend that you do not travel to the island until the declaration of the state of emergency is lifted," they added.
The Foreign Ministry also said in a statement: "Israelis staying in burning areas are asked to obey the instructions of the emergency authorities in Greece, and at the same time update the embassy through the 00302106705500 emergency line about their location and contact details. The instructions must be obeyed."
