A 70-year-old man drowned today (Friday) at the Virgin Beach in Kiryat Yam and was pulled from the water in critical condition.
MDA medics and paramedics gave him medical treatment and evacuated him to Rambam Hospital in Haifa while performing CPR.

MDA paramedic Cynthia Kaufman said: "The man who drowned was pulled from sea to shore unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing. The lifeguards and paramedic on the beach began medical treatment and performed basic CPR. We continued the medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital while continuing CPR while his condition was critical."
Drowning plague
Two weeks ago, a 15-year-old boy drowned in a pool in Moshav Burgata in the Emek Hefer Regional Council. He was evacuated to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba in critical condition and while performing CPR.
Today, a 5.5-year-old girl drowned in a pool in the Southern Sharon Regional Council. CPR was also performed on her when she was pulled out of the water in critical condition and transferred to Schneider Hospital for treatment.
