In La Matanza, the renovation of the railway infrastructure continues to be one of the main bets in terms of public works. The modernization of the Ramos Mejía Station of the Sarmiento Train continues to advance and last week two new spaces were enabled: the new bus stops on the north side -which are located on Leandro N. Alem Street, between General Ricchieri and 9 de Julio and in front of the Plaza Domingo Faustino Sarmiento-, and the renovated pedestrian tunnel of the Sarmiento Line station. that connects Rivadavia Avenue with Leandro N. Alem Street.

As communicated in his social networks the manager of Argentine Trains in the Sarmiento Train, Roberto Rocha, the works are part of a comprehensive remodeling plan of the Ramos Mejía Station and includes the placement of a new central hall with its respective ticket office, the reconstruction of an island platform and the enhancement of the historic house of the station. a building that is considered Cultural Heritage of the town.

Thanks to the modernization of the bus stops on Leandro N. Alem Street, people who want to take an internal line 1, 166, 182, 326 and 327, will no longer have to do so in the green space, but on a platform with cement sidewalks and illuminated with LED lanterns for greater comfort and safety of users.

In turn, the pedestrian tunnel linking the north side with the south side of the city is already enabled for general use. It was painted and refurbished so that it does not flood on rainy days and the residents of the area now have an alternative to cross from Rivadavia Avenue and vice versa, having to use the bridge or the barrier of Güemes.

From the communal government they assured that the objective of these works is to obtain a "greater social and economic integration of areas divided by the railroad tracks, a better functioning of the Sarmiento Line", as well as "a greater fluidity and reduction of accidents".

This is how you can see the entrance of the remodeled pedestrian tunnel that passes under Rivadavia Avenue.

Regarding the old house built in 1906 by the Dutch architect John Doyer, -who also built the building of Station Once and Constitución-, Rocha said that the restoration is being carried out by a team specialized in the enhancement of historical monuments that aims to recover the internal appearance similar to that of four decades ago. In dialogue with El1 Digital, he detailed the state of the work in 2022: "La Casona has the complexities of a building of such antiquity. We try to respect the frames, those that unfortunately can no longer be used, and replace them with similar ones."

Modular Bridges: the detours

As part of the Modernization Plan for Passenger Rail Transport of Trenes Argentinos, in Ramos Mejía a key work is advancing to improve traffic circulation and avoid accidents: the placement of two modular bridges over the route of the Sarmiento Train.

This week, the Municipality reported that from Wednesday, July 26 to Friday, August 4, it will not be possible to travel, park or circulate on Alem Street, between Güemes and Juan Chassaing, since in those blocks the works will continue for the installation of the modular mega structures meters from the station.

These new modular bridges will replace the Sarmiento Railway level crossings located on General Soler and Güemes streets. In addition, it will serve to connect Necochea and Rivadavia Avenue with Leandro N. Alem and Soler, as well as Chassaing -located on the border with the district of Morón- and Leandro N. Alem with Rivadavia Avenue and Alvear.

"This is a work of Trenes Argentinos and Tandanor that will relieve vehicular traffic and provide security through the crossing between Av. Rivadavia and Leandro N. Alem," summarized the manager of Trenes Argentinos in the Sarmiento Train.
