Special Envoy to Magdeburg
Boosted by good polls and the procrastination of the traditional German right, the AfD is projecting itself towards a European future, taking with it an ever more radical political line. At its congress in Magdeburg, in the former GDR, the far-right party came out in favour of joining the European party Identity and Democracy (ID), of which the French National Rally and Matteo Salvini's Italian League are members. Until now, the AfD had been content with a simple membership of the fraction of the ID group in the European Parliament.
