Highlights: Three drones struck in the heart of the Russian capital in the early morning hours. One of them was intercepted, two others exploded in the center of Moscow City. This is the fourth time since early May that drones have penetrated the air defense system over Moscow. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that the two drones were actually intercepted, but did not explain how the drones managed to reach central Moscow. This may indicate a shortage of air defense systems in Russia. Since the attack on the Senate Palace on the Kremlin compound in early May, Ukraine has attacked Moscow at least four times.

Following the events, Vnukovo Airport was closed this morning for short-term flights.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that the two drones were actually intercepted, but did not explain how the drones managed to reach central Moscow – unlike in late May and early July, when they were intercepted outside the city. This may indicate a shortage of air defense systems in Russia. Also, there is no certainty about the interception by means of electronic warfare: Russian military analysts have already commented that in order to know this, it is necessary to assume what the purpose of the drones was in the first place. The fact that they were blown up proves nothing.

Since the attack on the Senate Palace on the Kremlin compound in early May, Ukraine has attacked Moscow at least four times.
